about the event

35th Dão Wine Fair The Dão Wine Fair, held in Vila de Nelas, is the main event in the Dão Demarcated Wine Region and this year reaches its 35th edition. From 3 to 6 September, visitors can enjoy the best produced in this Dão region, from wines to delicious gastronomy, enjoy numerous leisure and cultural activities, and discover what the Heart of the Dão has to offer. At the center of the fair, in a dedicated area, there is a set of Dão Wine tastings led by renowned oenologists, who introduce the best of each product and the best way to enjoy it. And because wine and gastronomy always go hand in hand, the fair also offers participants the chance to attend, live, delicious gastronomy sessions by renowned chefs who prepare irresistible dishes, and regional product tastings such as Serra da Estrela cheese, olive oil, honey, and bread. For children, sessions are also organized where they can “get their hands dirty” through various fun and educational children’s workshops, highlighting the importance of a varied and healthy diet. Alongside the exhibitions of hundreds of Dão wines, visitors can also enjoy a huge range of typical regional and gastronomic products, which delight everyone, as well as exhibitions of handicrafts, agricultural machinery, and companies from the wine sector. With a full musical entertainment schedule, the fair offers concerts by renowned musicians, jazz and theatre performances, traditional Portuguese music, and a DJ area. The program also includes high-quality entertainment, including street entertainment, parade processions, and performances by folk groups, philharmonic bands, and popular singing groups, as well as a variety of leisure activities ranging from sports [mountain biking, football and tennis tournaments] to gatherings, walks, seminars, contests, meetings, and exhibitions dedicated to various themes, creating unique and unforgettable moments for all participants. Thinking of the youngest, the Children’s Area offers a set of activities ranging from clowns, face painting, inflatables, children’s entertainment, and storytelling sessions. And because this event is a family occasion, everyone can take part in this experience. During the fair, you can also have lunch and dinner with family and friends in the Food Court, a space with a wide variety of gastronomic suggestions, where you can taste the best flavors of the Dão. Accompanied by good wines, you can enjoy delicacies from local restaurants, street food, convent sweets, and delicious snacks. Learn more about this event here.
