A morte é o material com que construímos as nossas cidades is a creation by Renata Portas presented as part of As Escolas Artísticas no TNSJ 2026. The play starts from ruins, the impulse toward barbarism and the idea of revolution to compose a fractured mirror of the great political and ideological projects.

The creation revisits the French Revolution, the collapse of utopias and texts by authors such as Sade, Büchner, Shakespeare and Pasolini. With direction, dramaturgy and stage design by Renata Portas, the production by ESAP - Escola Superior Artística do Porto brings together acting, lighting design, sound, costumes and dramaturgical research in a meeting between artistic training and contemporary cultural programming.
