Ahmad brings intense jazz and improvisation to Julho é de Jazz in Braga. Julho é de Jazz presents Ahmad at gnration in Braga, in a concert marked by rhythmic intensity, improvisation and the reinvention of the legacy of Ahmed Abdul-Malik. The quartet brings together Pat Thomas on piano, Joel Grip on double bass, Antonin Gerbal on drums and Seymour Wright on saxophone. The group starts from Abdul-Malik’s work to build energetic, technical and infectious jazz, in dialogue with the heritage of West Asia and East Africa. Since 2017, Ahmad has been developing a live-recorded discography that repositions this repertoire for the 21st century, with a free, pulsating language deeply connected to jazz history.
