In “Arte”, by Yasmina Reza, the purchase of a white painting with white stripes triggers a crisis in the friendship between Sérgio, Marco and Ivo. What begins as a difference in taste turns into a battle of egos, resentments and revelations, amid laughter, silences and tensions.

Premiered in Paris in 1994, the play explores the acceptance of difference, the plurality of ways of seeing art and the complexity of human relationships. It is directed by António Pires, with a translation by Ana Sampaio, set design by F.Ribeiro, a soundtrack by Carincur, costumes by Dino Alves, lighting design by Rui Seabra and assistant direction by Rui Lopes.
