Ernst Lubitsch (b. Berlin, 1892; d. Los Angeles, 1947) moved from the Berlin theatre to cinema and built a body of work made of subtlety, elegance and humour. Recognized as a master of mise-en-scène and suggestion, he made films of constant inventiveness, with powerful dialogue and a spirit that defied censorship and the Hays Code that was imposed in the 1930s.
The cycle brings together this singular vision of cinema, associated with Medeia Filmes, and allows a revisit to the signature of a filmmaker fundamental to the history of cinema.
