about the event

Cinema Fora de Portas runs until 26 September and once again brings open-air cinema to several places in Coimbra, with a selection that spans major classics, contemporary works, animation for families and documentary films. The programme begins in Lordemão with "Dia D: Sob Pressão", by Anthony Maras, and then continues to Monte Formoso with "Incendies", by Denis Villeneuve. In September, the cycle passes through Loreto with "Toy Story 5", by Andrew Stanton, and dedicates three consecutive nights to the Ruínas de Conímbriga, with "Aconteceu no Oeste", "Mínimos & Monstros" and "Taxi Driver", by Martin Scorsese, in a screening marking the 50th anniversary of the film’s premiere. This is followed by "Vaiana" in Vilela, before returning to the city centre with "Trafic — Sim, Sr. Hulot", by Jacques Tati, in Praça do Comércio, and with the national premiere of "Where Music Grows", by Katrine Philp, in the Jardim Botânico, in partnership with Festival ACORDA and with the presence of the director and the musicians. The programme closes in the Jardim da Sereia with "Sirat", by Olivier Laxe, awarded the Jury Grand Prix at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The 6th edition is co-produced with the parish union of Coimbra, the parish union of Eiras e São Paulo de Frades, the parish union of Trouxemil e Torre de Vilela, and with the Museu Nacional de Conímbriga, and also has the support of the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual, Europa Cinemas and the Câmara Municipal de Coimbra.
