about the event

The exhibition brings together a representative sample of Teresa Sousa’s work (1928-1962), spanning printmaking, painting, drawing and tapestry. The artist developed an intense practice over seven years, between 1955 and 1961, abruptly cut short by her death at the age of 33.

A pioneering figure in modern printmaking in Portugal, Teresa Sousa was also awarded a prize in this category at the I Fine Arts Exhibition of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 1957. This presentation seeks to reveal several dimensions of her artistic path, bringing together works that allow visitors to revisit the diversity and scope of her work.
