Encontros - Junho

In the 1940s, around three thousand people were expelled from the Alta de Coimbra to make way for the Cidade Universitária. This documentary brings together the testimony of the last survivors of that community and revisits one of the biggest urban transformations in Portugal.

Between the historic neighborhood erased by the regime’s drive for renewal and the life of students, tricanas, merceeiros and tailors that existed there, the film looks at people, power, resistance, identity and the price of progress.
