Festival in Honor of Our Lady of Sorrows 2026

The Festa em Honra à Virgem das Dores returns to Monção with five days of religious celebrations and a festive atmosphere in the historic center, where the illuminated and decorated streets welcome thousands of people, including many emigrants who take advantage of this period to see family and friends again.

Among the most notable moments are the Solemn Procession in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows, on Sunday, and the Solemn Procession in Honor of the Emigrant, on Monday, the last day of the festival. The pilgrimage also includes the mutual greeting and farewell of the bands after Sunday’s procession, one of the most attended moments by the local population.

The program combines devotion, conviviality, and entertainment with local groups and names from the national music scene. To close, the group DAMA takes the stage at Praça Deu-la-Deu.
