Hortênsia Music Festival – Musical Eruption

Angra do Heroísmo hosts the VIII edition of Hortênsia Music Festival, under the theme «Erupção Musical», with a programme that brings together concerts, recitals, workshops and masterclasses over several days.

The festival gathers musicians, composers and young performers in emblematic spaces of the city, promoting the meeting of repertoire, training and artistic creation. Among the announced moments are the lecture-recital «Compositor em Residência», presented by António Pinho Vargas, a workshop with the soprano Siobhan Stagg and several concerts dedicated to works by composers such as J. S. Bach, G. Kurtág, A. Pinho Vargas, G. Fauré, H. Havrylets, B. Smetana, R. Schumann, A. Dvořák, J. Brahms, F. Schubert, G. Puccini, E. Schulhoff, C. Debussy and K. Weill.

The programme also includes presentations by the masterclasses’ participants, culminating in a concert for children and the final music marathon. Admission is free.
