about the event
This temporary exhibition at Museu de Lisboa – Santo António brings together images of Santo António from private collections, bringing into dialogue different choices made by collectors and the singular relationship that each piece establishes with the saint.
The exhibition highlights the value of these collections in preserving, safeguarding and interpreting a heritage of great richness, while also showing the stories of acquisition and the affections associated with each object. By recognizing the contribution of Antonian collectors, the museum also emphasizes their role in knowledge, in the continuity of devotion and in the dissemination of the image of Santo António, in Lisbon and in the country.
