about the event
In Paris, during the German occupation, Marion takes over the direction of the Théâtre Montmartre while Lucas Steiner, her husband, is forced to go into hiding again. The film follows the tension of keeping the theater open in a time of fear and uncertainty, in one of François Truffaut’s great titles. The screening is part of a retrospective of the filmmaker’s work, a major figure of the Nouvelle Vague, here associated with a cinema in which actors occupy a central place and performance intersects with the very history of cinema.
