On a rainy night torn by thunder, four young people find shelter in an abandoned theatre. Dust rises like memory, silence listens to them. Ghosts murmur. At the centre of the stage, an old book awaits Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza.
They open it. And, without knowing how, fall inside.
What was paper becomes wind, becomes horse, becomes giants. Words take on flesh. Voices multiply. They are no longer just four: they are many more, they are others, they are characters, they are everything they dare to imagine.
Just like Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, these four young people are on stage, in the place of stories, in the place where the real unravels and dreaming begins. And perhaps there is no difference. They invent worlds as if lighting lamps in the dark. They lose themselves in order to find themselves. Do they play at madness, or is it freedom? And one question remains suspended in the air: who decides what is true?
Outside, the world runs fast. Screens lit up, accelerated internet, everything immediate, everything now. Mystery shrinks. Imagination falls asleep.
But here, on this stage, it, imagination, resists.
It breathes. It grows. And it reminds us that imagining can be the bravest of acts. That imagination is the most powerful energy in the world.
Teatro das Beiras opens its door to you.
Come in. Perhaps, just like Don Quixote, you will never see reality the same way again.
