Street Art Route - Through the Streets of Art

Sesimbra turns into an open-air gallery in this street art route, which invites visitors to walk through the town and discover works scattered across public space. Along the streets, doors, walls, fences and electricity boxes feature creations linked to the sea, fishing, traditions and the people of Sesimbra.

Among the points of interest is the mural *A Conserveira da Praça*, painted in 2024 by João Cruz, in front of Mercado Municipal. The artist from Sesimbra is also developing new paintings that give a face to people and typical expressions from local history. The first work was created next to Fortaleza de Santiago and portrays Ti Aníbal (Aníbal Pinto), 94 years old.

In total, the project includes eleven new paintings and the restoration of another nine boxes. Led by Câmara Municipal de Sesimbra since 2014, the initiative has brought some of the most prominent names in street art in the country to the town, while also making space for local creators.
