Synopsis
An archive is not so sterile after all. We wake up at dawn to move from the memory of the first cell. We discover that what disappeared from the old body still echoes in the new body. Ruin is a tail. In an archive of gestures, only movement can speak both for what was lost and for what was preserved as a fossil. We embodied this archive, but were surprised by its forms. We tried to repeat its movements, but, in trying to translate these fossilized gestures, we made something new by accident. The objects taught us to become sculpture, to freeze movement. We destroyed them. — Sancha Meca Castro

Authors' biography text
Sancha is a choreographer, performer and transdisciplinary artist. She works from scores for improvisation, through speculative practices about the nature of objects, archives and gestures. Her movement practice explores tangible matter and invisible materialities, such as fictions, value creation, ruins, collapse and other memories. She uses the body as a starting point to develop performances in different spatial contexts and negotiates, with the objects she activates on stage, a shared performativity. She studied sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, dance at the Berlin Dance Institute, in Berlin, and choreography at SNDO, in the Netherlands. She has presented her works in Portugal, the Netherlands, England, Croatia, Bulgaria, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.
