Portugal Schools Sailing Cup - 2026

The Taça de Portugal de Escolas de Vela 2026 takes place from 4 to 6 September at Clube de Vela da Costa Nova, as a national competition designed to bring together sailing schools, including Desporto Escolar, and promote participation and a sense of belonging to the sport.

The event is contested in the Optimist, Techno 293 — Open category, with a maximum sail area of 6.8 — and individual Laser Pico classes, with no limit on the number of participants. In each class, sailors compete in a single fleet, with 6 to 9 races scheduled. Starting with the fourth race, the worst result is discarded, with an individual ranking for each class but no specific title awarded for any class. In the Optimist class, a club ranking is also planned, based on the grouping of schools.

Participation depends on the criteria defined by FPV and, as a rule, on access through the respective Taças Regionais de Escolas de Vela. Sailors in the first two years of Licença Desportiva Praticante Regular are eligible, subject to specific age and sporting criteria for each class, as are participants in Desporto Escolar who meet the applicable conditions.
