about the event
In a context of pressure on the planet’s limits, "Terra Crua" proposes looking at raw earth not as a nostalgic regression, but as a natural, local and available resource. The exhibition traces the material and the accumulated knowledge around this material, showing how soil can be understood as an archive, a circular resource and an agent of contemporary architecture in Portugal.
Curated by Madalena Vidigal, the exhibition brings together scientific and historical content, prototypes, case studies and collaborative experiences that analyse and reuse excavated earth from works in Lisbon, highlighting its performance and its potential for building the city. The public programme includes talks, film screenings and visits to the exhibitions, around the future of earth construction, its technical, cultural and community legacies, and the possibilities of reactivating this know-how.
