*\A Noite de Alaíde* revisits the trajectory of Alaíde Costa, a young singer from the Rio de Janeiro suburbs who, in the 1960s, won a place among the central names of Bossa Nova. Alongside artists such as João Gilberto, Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, she built a singular presence in a movement that would transform Brazilian music and gain international recognition. Despite the talent recognized by her peers, Alaíde faced the silencing and racial inequalities of a time when Bossa Nova’s only Black female voice was often pushed to the margins. The film recovers this journey through memories, archival material and testimonies, also revisiting the artist’s historical absence from the legendary Carnegie Hall concert in New York. Sixty years later, Alaíde once again crosses America in search of the stage that had always belonged to her by right. Between music, memory and historical reparation, the documentary builds an intimate and moving portrait of one of the great voices of Brazilian culture.
