about the event

Bruno Lyfe's first international solo exhibition, this show presents new works developed over two months of residency in Lisbon, as part of the Cariboa Artistic Residency.

The exhibition path brings together paintings, interventions on old engravings, and an installation conceived specifically for the Reservatório da Patriarcal. Drawing on an investigation into Brazilian identity, colonial heritage, peripheral culture, and Black self-esteem, Bruno Lyfe proposes a reflection on the historical and symbolic relations between Brazil and Portugal.

Installed in an underground space marked by the presence of water, the exhibition also brings in the sea as an image of crossing, faith, loss, resistance, and celebration.
