Culture in the Parishes 2026

The 2026 edition of Cultura nas Freguesias spreads music and entertainment across various venues in the municipality of Portalegre, with free admission and age rating M/6. The programme brings together local projects, philharmonic bands, fado, Portuguese popular music and more immersive proposals, always linked to parish festivities, fairs and commemorations. In July, the opening comes with RUMO AO SUL, at the Urra Sports Complex, followed by A MÚSICA QUE NOS UNE, with Sociedade Musical Euterpe and Sociedade Recreativa Musical Alegretense, featuring the voice of Margarida Geraldes. The month also includes FADO: VIAGEM, by Quarteto em Mim with Vera Soldado and Jorge Silva, and several performances within the Alegrete Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair, with OS CASTANHOS, VERDE MAIO, RÉGIO and the GRUPO VOZ AMIGA DE TERRUGEM. In August, the highlight goes to GRANDES VOZES DO FADO | LUÍS CAEIRO & YOLA DINIS and LUMEN NOCTIS – CONCERTO IMERSIVO | JOÃO MENDONZA & ENSEMBLE IBÉRICO, a show that combines sound and light in a more immersive reading of the concert. In September, the programme returns to bands and local tradition with the BANDA DA SOCIEDADE RECREATIVA E MUSICAL DE PÓVOA E MEADAS, the tribute SÓ XUTOS – TRIBUTO A XUTOS & PONTAPÉS and MELODIAS NO LARGO, led by the Banda da Sociedade Musical Nisense. The shows are part of the Pontes de Saberes project, co-financed by Alentejo 2023, and involve several parish councils in the municipality.
