Taking advantage of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of saxophonist John Coltrane, the Hot Clube orchestra presents original music inspired by his musical universe by renowned contemporary composers. He is one of the most important names in the history of Jazz who, despite having a relatively short recording career of ten years, left numerous recordings and a deep mark on this music, influencing all saxophonists and other later improvising instrumentalists. The names of the chosen composers reflect the orchestra’s desire to dialogue with the Jazz being made today, without hesitation in taking risks and crossing aesthetic boundaries. They are Ingrid Laubrock, Anna Webber, Frank Carlberg, Luís Cunha and Carlos Azevedo, and the performance will also feature Anna Webber and Ingrid Laubrock.
