JAZZ DAYS ’26 | PEDRO MELO ALVES’ OMNIAE LARGE ENSEMBLE (PT)

The Omniae Large Ensemble returns in a large-format version for a concert that brings together contemporary music, improvisation and experimental electronics. The project began as a septet, awarded the Bernardo Sassetti Composition Prize in 2016, and later took on orchestral dimensions after a commission from Guimarães Jazz 2020.

In this performance, Pedro Melo Alves’ work opens up space for dense and shifting soundscapes, with an expanded collective of musicians on stage. The result brings acoustic instruments, voices and electronics together in a writing that is open to the unknown and to transcendence, in a lineup that gathers some of the most active figures from the classical, improvised and experimental scenes in Portugal and beyond.
