about the event

The Chestnut Festival returns to Curral das Freiras as a celebration dedicated to one of the parish's most emblematic products. Created in 1983, it was the country's first festival to honor chestnuts and continues to bring together tradition, agriculture and local dynamism.

The program includes plenty of entertainment, with a special focus on the Allegorical Parade, which brings together more than 350 costumes and several floats. Throughout the event, local producers have sales points to showcase and sell chestnuts, walnuts and other delicacies made from these flavors of the land.
