about the event
On view at MAC/CCB, this temporary exhibition by Francisca Carvalho presents an extensive selection of works on paper and other pieces that emerge from the manipulation of symbols and signs from diverse geographies. The journey crosses collages, drawings, patterns, texts, paintings and textiles, composing a rich and singular visual vocabulary.
The exhibition also highlights the research the artist carried out in India, in the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat, where she deepened her knowledge of traditional pattern techniques, natural dyes, kalamkari, hand-block printing and experiments with glass.
The opening is preceded, in the MAC/CCB Auditorium, by a conversation with the artists Neïl Beloufa and Francisca Carvalho, and with the curators Marta Mestre and Sara De Chiara, followed by the inauguration. The exhibition is curated by Sara De Chiara.
