September Programme of Museu Municipal

The Summer Holiday Programme “Tatear e sentir como ponto de partida!” runs until 11 September, from Tuesday to Friday, between 10:00 and 16:00. Aimed at children aged three to 12 who are part of school or holiday-care groups, it includes workshops at Edifício Chiado, Torre de Almedina, Torre de Anto and Edifício da Inquisição. The activities explore naturalist painting, medieval writing, Carlos Paredes’ guitar and the ancestral game Dreidel. Participation requires advance booking and groups must have between five and 25 participants; individual registrations are not accepted. The programme includes two new exhibitions. “ARCA. Arquiteturas da Rutura, Corpos e Ausências”, at Edifício Chiado, brings together 20 Portuguese and Spanish women artists around gender inequalities in the Iberian Peninsula and can be visited from 5 September to 22 November. At Galeria Almedina, “O muro, o espaço e nós”, by Barbara Eitel, will be on display from 10 September to 6 December. Both have free admission and are open from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. The spaces are closed on Mondays and public holidays.

From 18 to 27 September, the Museum joins the Jornadas Europeias do Património, under the theme “Reviver, resistir, reinventar”, offering free admission at its sites and several activities for different audiences. On the 26th, the fourth Saturday of the month, all sites also offer free admission, with the exception of Mikveh.
