Throughout the month, the Municipality invites the public to discover a programme that brings together cinema, music, theatre and proposals aimed at families and younger audiences. CINEMA Cinema marks the return with the festival Extensão IndieLisboa – Secção IndieJúnior. It is a selection especially aimed at children and young people, bringing to Barcelos different proposals from independent cinema, in the form of short films from various parts of the world and different film genres, such as documentaries, animation and fiction. Extensão IndieLisboa – Secção IndieJúnior runs from 1 to 5 September, at 21h30. Cineclube ZOOM screens, on 8 September, “Sophia, Setembro de 1963”, by Hugo Pereira and Vanessa Duarte. The film programme continues on 15 September with “Romaria”, by Carla Simón, and on 22 September with “Órfão”, by László Nemes, reinforcing the commitment to the dissemination of different cinematic languages and perspectives. MUSIC Music takes on particular prominence with the 11th edition of Jazz ao Largo, between 10 and 13 September. Over four days, Largo Dr. Martins Lima and Frente Ribeirinha da Azenha will host different musical proposals, bringing together artists and projects such as Andy Sheppard Trio, Sexteto de Jazz de Lisboa, Mostafa Taleb, Carlos Bica & Azul, Rapid Zen and Ensemble JAL. The Jazz ao Largo programme also includes “Sononautas – Ecoescuta”, on 13 September, at 10h00, a workshop aimed at children, inviting younger participants to explore listening and the relationship with the surrounding space through sound. THEATRE On 24 September, theatre returns to the stage with the play “ARTE”, by Yasmina Reza, which addresses with humour adult friendships, ego and the difficulty of accepting different points of view. The following day, Jangada Teatro presents “A Barca”, in a proposal for audiences aged 12 and over, which reinterprets, in a highly unconventional way, Gil Vicente's work, Auto da Barca do Inferno, staged by Jonh Mowat. WITH FAMILY Families continue to have a prominent place in the TGV programme. On the first Sunday of the month, bring the family and come and watch “Soprar para Ver”, by the company Amarelo Silvestre. Then on the 20th, Marulhada – Associação Cultural presents “Há~Vento”, a theatre show for babies from 6 to 36 months, creating a space for discovery and artistic experience aimed at the very first audiences. To close, on the 27th, “36 histórias para divertir as crianças de um artista”, by MPMP – Património Musical Vivo, completes the programme aimed at families, with a musical show that invites the little ones to embark on a journey through stories of penguins, marmots, roosters and hippopotamuses, in a universe of fantasy, humour and discovery. September thus marks the return of the programme with a diverse range of options that aim to bring culture closer to the community.
