Barcelos Fest Ensemble 2026 – 2nd Edition

Barcelos Fest Ensemble returns in 2026 for its second edition, establishing itself as a series of commented concerts dedicated to promoting classical music and bringing the public closer to the works and composers presented.

Across six sessions, between June and November, churches and other heritage sites in Barcelos host free-admission concerts with national and international musicians. The programme spans several periods and aesthetics, from the Baroque to contemporary creation, and also includes the appreciation of Portuguese musical heritage and the world premiere of new works.

Designed and artistically directed by Miguel Leite, the series adopts a commented format that offers the audience historical, chronological and musicological context, making the listening experience more accessible and better informed. The initiative is by the Municipality of Barcelos and brings together music and heritage in different locations across the municipality.
