about the event
An archive is not so sterile after all. We wake before dawn to move from the memory of the first cell. We discover that what vanished from the old body still echoes in the new body. Ruin is a tail. In an archive of gestures, only movement can speak both for what was lost and for what was preserved like a fossil. We embodied this archive, but were surprised by its forms. We tried to repeat its movements, but, in trying to translate these fossilized gestures, we accidentally made something new. The objects taught us to make sculpture, to freeze movement. We destroyed them. — Sancha Meca Castro
