Under the Shade of a Tree I Sat and Wept

*Under the Shade of a Tree I Sat and Wept* brings together two historical processes of collective healing: the reconciliation of conflicts in Kosovo and South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The creation by Jeton Neziraj, Greg Homann and Blerta Neziraj draws on archive material and recently collected testimonies to build a performance about forgiveness, memory, and violence.

On stage, an international cast leads the audience through a journey that combines humor, pain, and dramatic intensity, in a dialogue between the Kosovar campaign to reconcile blood feuds and the 1995 South African commission.
