TRISTE PARA SEMPRE
Synopsis
On 10, 11 and 12 July, Cinema São Jorge hosts the film festival that promises to bring many tears. Triste Para Sempre celebrates its 6th edition and, with it, short and feature films whose endings are never happy will be screened. Its mission is to develop sadness as a broad thematic concept and it proposes an interdisciplinary programme combining film screenings, educational services and cultural awareness.
The 2026 programme includes national and international films, with this edition once again focusing on Portuguese cinema. Through the selected films, different themes will be explored, such as heartbreak, the maternal figure, migration and rural life, among others. The intimate perspective of the characters leads us to visit several complex emotions, heightened by their collective context and the possibility of sharing them with a safe audience. There will also be a youth section to promote younger audiences' contact with sadness in a playful way, and to create creative tools to regulate their emotions.
In this edition, Triste Para Sempre has a specific focus on Portuguese traditions, ancestral culture and the preservation of the past as a fundamental theme of its curation, extending its programme to creative workshops, performances, talks and special collaborations.
